Since the utility of each manufacturer is different, the following instructions are tasks you need to accomplish rather than a step by step guide:
1. If you are using a new wireless card, install the wireless card software and driver according to the wireless card manufacturer instructions.
3. Follow your card manufacturer instructions and configure your card to work in ad hoc mode or to act as an access point, if supported (but do not configure it in Infrastructure mode, which is the method used to connect to an access point).
4. Set the SSID or Network Name/ID to: 2HOTSPOT
5. Under security or encryption select Open or, None. This make it simple for others to connect to your hotspot.
6. Using your test computer wireless adapter, view the available wireless networks, check the list and validate that you can see your newly configured 2HOTSPOT network. If it is configured, try to connect to it. If you cannot find your new network verify the settings are try again.
7.
Open Network Connections; Select your Wireless
card right click on it and select Rename. Type:
“Private Connection”
Note: To open Network Connections, click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
8. Still in Network Connections; Select the connection from which you go out to the Internet, right click on it and select Rename. Type: “Internet Connection”
Tip: If you have multiple connections, and you are not sure
which connection is used to access the Internet, disable each Enabled connection and then try to access or refresh an
Internet web site. When you can no longer access the Internet, you have disabled
your Internet connection.
To disable a connection right click on it and
select Disable. After you checked for
connectivity don’t forget to re-enable the connection by right clicking on the
connection and selecting Enable.
If you have completed these activities you are ready to continue to Step 2 – Configure Internet Connection Sharing
